Hello Kefas Gospel Choir!
I want to congratulate you on seeing 50 years of singing together, travelling the world, pioneering gospel music in Denmark. It’s a very, very big deal. I am truly, truly grateful to be a part of your history. I am truly grateful that I met Peter Steinvig and the choir back in 1996, when I was 16 years old. I believe you were doing a tour in the UK with Priscilla Jones-Campbell, and you were invited to our church, and that was the first time I got to meet Peter and the choir, and it was a really wonderful experience for me. I remember there were a few faces that I met at the end of the concert, and their smiles and bright eyes and the conversations that we had, they really stayed with me at the age of 16.
I am truly grateful for Peter Steinvig that he saw something in me that he felt he could use, and I am truly grateful that he took me under his wing and invited me to Denmark to do work with the choir and also a lot of work with him. Peter is definitely a role model for me, a great man, a man of integrity, a man that I trust and I learnt a lot from. We had some amazing times together travelling to different countries and doing gospel workshops. He introduced gospel music to a lot of different cities and different countries. He is an amazing man, and to have him as the foundation of Kefas and to know all that he has invested into the choir, not just musically but also spiritually. His dream I believe was not just to build an amazing sounding choir but also to teach about relationship with God, and whenever we went to do workshops, I loved that he carried that. It wasn’t just about the music, it was about the message of Jesus Christ. I encourage you to continue that. Another thing I loved about working with Peter was that he always had such a warm welcome and smile for people, he was always joking around. Even though he was quite a bit older than me, sometimes I felt that I was quite mature because we really got along, or maybe he was a little bit younger than what his actual age was, because we had some great conversations, great banter. But he was warm and loving to everyone, he had time for everyone, and I also encourage you, choir, to continue that, not just to have smiles when you are on stage, but when you come off stage continue to smile and share love with those that you are ministering to and singing to. There so much that I would say. Peter has valuable lessons, treasures that Peter has given to us, and I pray that we continue to remember that, remember the heart of where the gospel choir started and remind each other of the heart of the choir and continue to share that. And I pray that as you share that – of course, quality music, the truth of Jesus Christ and also that love with others. I pray that you’ll continue to see many more years together. God bless you!
